What to Consider When Buying One 

A mini split air conditioner is getting more and more popular these days because most are small and handy. Models often are considered best alternatives to moderate degree of cooling needs. This is very applicable if one is planning to cool a room that is neither too large nor too small. In addition, this unit is quite preferred if you want to concentrate cooling without having to use too much electric current.  

So if you have decided to take on a mini split air conditioner for a cooling system it is just as important to be careful in choosing which brand and model you should invest in. This is especially true given that there are a number of manufacturers competing for the costumer's eyes. Here are things to consider before you purchase a unit: 

• total area to be cooled by the unit – this is important as this will guide you in buying units that would just be enough to cool the entire place without having it too cold nor not cool enough. One should take into account the exact floor area of the corner or the room where the unit is to be installed. Larger rooms may not be serviced well with this kind of unit while smaller rooms might be exaggeratedly cooled.
• BTU requirement – you will have to consider in close detail your energy and thereby cooling requirements such that you will not be buying units which are too powerful and tend to short cycle nor purchase a model which will render unbalanced humidity relative to coolness of the standing air. Units, which are too powerful often, will not cool the air appropriately and will instead add up on your energy usage instead of maintaining or reducing it. So determine your BTU requirement and get the unit that will closely resemble your needs.

Energy efficiency of the unit (SEER) - unit with a high SEER should be your top consideration although the model may seem to be more expensive than those with lower SEER. This is a sound investment for those with higher SEER often are the one, which are energy savers. So having a unit with high SEER is like investing in a cooling device without putting pressure on your pockets as you can actually cut electronic usage and therefore reduce your electric bills.
